love of art worldwide
January 8, 2021, Singapore – Global apparel retailer UNIQLO will launch the Jason Polan
UT collection on Friday, January 29, 2021. In January 2020, the New York artist passed
away at the age of 37 and is mourned by many. UNIQLO began a special partnership with
Polan in 2016, releasing three UT collections that shared his art with the world. This newest
offering remembers his talented takes on everyday life. UTs (UNIQLO T-shirts) offer an array
of authentic pop culture and art graphics from around the world that allow the wearer to
express their individuality.
Showcasing Jason Polan’s loving take on everyday life and iconic art.
In 2008, Polan took to the streets with his pen and notepad to take on the challenge of drawing
every person in New York. Designs from this new UT collection feature some of those sketches
and notes on the scenes he captured to enable people to sense the world as Polan saw it. The
collection also features drawings from Polan’s time in Tokyo and his loving sketches of giraffes,
hamburgers, and tigers that embodied his style.

UNIQLO today launched The World’s Biggest Drawing Club campaign to commemorate the release
of the new UT collection and encourage people to emulate the drawing styles Polan created in his
desire to make the joys of art accessible to all. To mark the first anniversary of Polan’s passing, the
UNIQLO global Instagram account will host a live drawing workshop on Wednesday, January 27, 2021
from 7:00pm (JST) in which several leading artists share their techniques. People can join the
workshop by following the Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/uniqlo_jp/.
UNIQLO will also distribute booklets featuring Polan’s achievements and his work.

The upcoming UT magazine 2021 Summer Edition and a special global website will present some of the
art posted using special social media hashtags. The site will publish one piece of Polan’s work every day.
Special In-store Workshop
Contributing to The World’s Biggest Drawing Club, the UNIQLO Orchard Central Global Flagship Store will
host a special two-day workshop in which participants will learn how to draw with artists from local arts collective, Band of Doodlers (BOD).

Novelty items
Event participants will receive a set of novelty items comprising a uni-ball Vision Elite Rollerball pen
inscribed with Jason Polan’s name and a tote bag featuring Jason Polan’s signature giraffe drawing.
Booklet
UNIQLO stores will begin distribution in limited quantities from Friday, January 29. The booklet
includes space for people to make their own sketches.

Jason Polan
Jason was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1982. He began drawing daily
from a very young age. He collaborated with UNIQLO in releasing three
UT collections. He passed away from cancer in January 2020.
