This season, Timberland builds upon its forward-thinking Nature Needs Heroes campaign by adhering to its longstanding commitment to create products responsibly while steadily increasing its use of recycled, organic and renewable materials over time.

This season, heritage comes to the forefront via the time-honored tradition of workwear. As a cornerstone in the world of workwear thanks to the iconic 6” Boot, Timberland once again redefines the meaning of workwear for a new era, by incorporating street style and sustainable materials with the Nature Needs Heroes philosophy for the Spring/Summer 2020 season. Inspired by the problem-solving attitude of Timberland wearers from all walks of life, this collection aims to bring people together in the belief that we can all work hard to create a better future for the planet.

As a highly regarded actor with a passion for the outdoors, Asia Eco Hero Yo Yang perfectly embodies the Nature Needs Heroes ideal. Yang has been a fundamental figure in spreading awareness of the environment through personal projects such as the ‘Birthday Project,’ a household plant packaged in a recycled and biodegradable container that serves as a constant reminder of the importance of nature in our everyday lives. He has also participated in Timberland’s desert reforestation project in China’s Horqin Desert, where volunteers planted saplings by hand to reverse the effects of habitat destruction with the help of Japanese NGO, Green Network. “Even small actions can make tremendous changes,” says Yang. “My goal is to not only make a positive impact but encourage others to support Mother Earth.”

Yang is the face of Timberland’s workwear-inspired line this season. Following in the footsteps of concerted sustainability initiatives, these apparel designs seek to minimize their environmental impact by utilizing innovative and sustainable fabric technologies such as organic cotton grown without harmful chemicals or pesticides, and Timberland’s proprietary ReBOTL™ lining made from at least 50 percent recycled PET bottles.

Key items include the Mount Tecumseh Worker Jacket, a double-breasted outerwear silhouette that features a textile blend of 85 percent ReBOTL™ material and 15 percent organic cotton. Articulated sleeves allow for ease of movement while reflective tape detailing directly references the collection’s workwear inspiration. Meanwhile, the original 6” Boot is updated for the modern day with the Treadlight 6” Waterproof Boot, which features a striking two-tone upper made from premium leather sourced from a LWG Silver-Rated tannery (audited by the independent Leather Working Group based on energy use, waste production and water treatment) and sealed with TimberDry™ waterproof membrane. ReBOTL™ lining and 400 grams of PrimaLoft® insulation guarantee unparalleled warmth, while a leather-lined anti-fatigue footbed and a padded collar ensure all-day endurance.

Rounding out the collection is the Brooklyn 6” Boot, which combines an OrthoLite® footbed and AeroCore™ Energy System for a shoe that delivers the unfailing comfort and durability that the modern worker demands.
